There are various photography companies around the world but some of the prominent photography company names which come to mind are the Eastman Kodak Company and Fuji color. The founder of the Eastman Kodak photography company was George Eastman and that is how the name Eastman Kodak Company came into existence.
George Eastman began as a bank clerk and he concentrated on atleast three years in developing the dry plate process. This was a big improvement over the wet plate process which was previously being used. He not only secured a patent for the process which he developed but also for the machine involved in the process and then formed his Company, the Eastman Kodak Company.
George Eastman then went on to develop a photographic film which was coated with gelatin and could be wound in rolls. Since this film could be used in the dry plate cameras which were being used at that time, it naturally went on to become quite popular – this was how George Eastman began producing films. This also caused him to change his photography company name to the Eastman Dry Plate and Film Company.
Later on George Eastman concentrated his energies on developing a portable camera and succeeded in this attempt. He needed to find a name for this camera. He liked the letter K – he believed that K was quite powerful and created an impact on people when they heard it. He wanted the letter K to figure at the beginning and the end of the name. He tried various permutations and combinations and finally came up with the name Kodak which he liked – thus the name Kodak was used for this portable, easy-to-use camera which gained popularity the world over. Among all the photography company names it is Kodak with has persistently evolved over the years and left an impact on our lives.
