The joy in a new mother’s eyes, the growth of her stomach captured only in pregnant photography as her new child begins to grow and develop is one of the many images captured by a growing number of artists today.  Pregnant women photography has taken hold as a work of art by photographers and artists around the globe.  Honing in on the stomach specifically, pregnant belly photography takes this region of the female body and gives new appreciation to the understanding of conception and being pregnant.  After all nine months later and the phenomena of birth captured through pregnant photography is over and the process may or may not begin again.

Pregnant women photography finds itself most interesting in the second and third trimesters of a women’s conception.  As the child grows the belly expands and artists tend to focus more on this region using pregnant belly photography to catch these moments.  As the breasts swell with the stomach these two become of particular interest and pregnant photography lends well to capturing these physiological changes in a woman through both the use of color and black and white mediums.

During the first trimester, artists and photographers focus on facial changes and expressions using pregnant photography primarily when a woman’s pregnancy begins to show.  Though the most rapid physiological changes occur at this time, the more interesting image is that of a woman who realizes that she is pregnant.  Photography of Pregnant Women will continue to grow as an art form.  Capturing these images as they occur and being able to portray the image of a pregnant woman as an object of beauty, unique in human form, remains the objective of all those specializing in both pregnant women photography and pregnant belly photography respectively.
