The big six filters for photography
The digital camera has changed the way photography is done, but there have been arguments which prove that the big six filters for photography can not be completely replaced by digital cameras. This article will be discussing these big six filters for photography and will also explain their importance in the photography and how they can not be replaced by digital camera. To start with one should know at least the their names, the names of the big six filters for photography are first one is the polarizer, second is the 80A (color balancing), third the neodymium enhancer, fourth is the soft focus, fifth is the neutral density and last one but not the least the split grad. These form fundamentals for filters used in photography hence known as the big six filters for photography.
The polarizer is nothing but a filter used to stabilize the reflection of light on any object. This filter helps in getting the best natural appearance of the shot picture by balancing the reflection of light on the object while taking that photograph. As the name suggests 80A (color balancing) the filter helps in creating a balance in three basic color namely red, green and blue, this is done well in cameras but during daylight not in dim light or sunsets, this filter helps taking clear images in evenings and nights without emphasizing on any one color. The neodymium filter is used to take pictures as seen by human eye, it separates different colors for there original identities, this can not be done with out the use of filter during photography, not even technologically advanced software’s could help to make the correct picture. The soft focus filter is used to highlight on details like dew on flower, candle light, etc this it does by giving enough importance to the density and intensity of the product by creating a glow around it. The neutral density filter is used for photos of running or moving things like flowing of water, waterfall, fountain, etc. this can be achieved by digital camera however it is time consuming and gets boring after a while. The neutral density filter helps in getting the picture at a long shot which is required for these kinds of pictures. The split grad unlike all other filters does not concentrate on balance of light or color instead it concentrates on saving the shadow by not allowing the light to spread and diminish the effects of the shadow.
This clearly indicates that digital has reduced use of lot of extra equipments needed get correct pictures but it still has a long way to go to eliminate use of the big six filters for photography as they are mandatory to generate what one may call a perfect picture under different situations.
